How much does the IKEA Antilop cost?

The IKEA Antilop highchair is listed at around £12 in the UK, with the tray available separately at around £3.

Its simple plastic seat is one reason parents love it. It is lightweight, easy to wipe and far more affordable than many other highchairs. However, it does not include a footrest or padded cushion, so many families choose to add these separately.

Does the IKEA Antilop need a footrest?

The IKEA Antilop can be used as supplied when it is assembled correctly and the safety belt is used as instructed. A footrest is an optional addition, but it gives little feet a supported place to rest instead of leaving them to dangle.

A well-positioned footrest can help support a stable sitting posture, with the hips, knees and ankles sitting at approximately 90 degrees where possible. It does not replace the highchair's safety belt, which should always be fitted and used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Does the IKEA Antilop come with a cushion?

No. The Antilop has a simple moulded plastic seat with no padded cushion.

Some families are happy to use it exactly as it is. Others prefer to add a cushion for a softer, more comfortable seat and an easy way to personalise the chair.

Does the Stokke Tripp Trapp come with a cushion?

No. The Stokke Tripp Trapp has a solid wooden seat and adjustable footplate, but a cushion is not included with the base chair.

Which highchair needs more accessories?

The IKEA Antilop has fewer built-in comfort and styling features, so there are more optional accessories you can add. A footrest provides support, a cushion support your little ones back, a placemat covers the tray helping with quicker clean ups after meal and leg wraps give the chair a warmer wooden look.
